Prolific Creative

Having been at my new position as a web copywriter with Red Ventures for over a week now, I have to say that I find it rather amazing and satisfying that I am actually able to churn out such a bounty of unique creative each day.  Graphic design/art is one thing.  I lose hours and hours and completely hyper-focus on any project I take on in that medium.  But writing is a different thing for me altogether.  I mean, sure, I've been writing for a long old time but not thousands of words of copy per day.
Having always had a penchant for words, I do find it a bit limiting to constantly have to dumb down my vocabulary for the comprehension level of the average reader.  But I wouldn't say that what I do is without value.  The more I write repeatedly about the same things over and over, the more disciplined I become about sentence structure and rephrasing.  I have also discovered that the simple act of writing all day every day makes it a veritable compulsion for me to be writing all of the time.  This comes as no real surprise as I tend to be overflowing with creative ideas and like to express them both visually and verbally.  Maybe now, I'll actually get to that novel I've got outlined though I seriously doubt it will happen anytime soon.  My house needs some organization and cleaning out first.  Plus classes at the Art Institute start back next week and I'll be occupied with my design work.  But I'll put it on my rainy day list at least with a little more expectancy of something eventually coming out of it.
Tonight, I have to write 7 or 8 pages of copy for landing pages for ADT Home Security.  Not exactly what I would prefer to be doing but obligatory none the less.  I did spend a good bit of time this morning creating a template document to use so I am hoping that will greatly speed up the length of time I end up spending on this project.
Technology is a beautiful thing.  I had an obvious aha moment when it dawned on me that by sending myself two simple emails to my home address, I could work from home instead of having to spend the night at the office.  At least I was able to have dinner with my family, call my mother, and play four games of Zingo with Jane Elise.
In my next post, I'll try out a true article format and attempt to be more interesting.  Tonight was just a personal update as I haven't posted anything at all in over a year.
Until then, be mindful my friends. Be well.
